This year, I’ve been running a personal mailing list. It’s still very small but slowly growing. I started it because my activities are quite dispersed across three organisations, various digital platforms and types of work, so it’s a single channel to access a little bit of the content and events I offer.

You can sign up here for monthly mailings: https://bridget-mckenzie.kit.com/

And below is the September news that I’ve shared in today’s newsletter:

Are you enjoying this early Autumn light? I’ve been enjoying my ‘micronoticing’ walks on Mousehold Heath and around Norwich. See my Insta where I share selections of photos.

I missed an August mailing as I was deep in absorbing and making mode in the Fluid Earth residency at Groundwork Gallery. The exhibition opens on 4th October, and I’ll be doing a workshop on ‘How It All Connects’ at teh Groundwork conference in King’s Lynn on November 22nd.

Next month, I’ll be able to share more about the illustrations and book works I’ve made. It stirred big swirling thoughts about imagination, dynamic patterns, sacred springs and water as a womb for life…

Earth Talk:

This Friday 26th September, I’ll host a free Discovery session, so if you’re curious, please do come along. The next series of six weekly workshops will be more practical and creative than before, and will start on 23rd October (9.00 am).

The first part of September was busy:

With Kevin Davidson, I curated and facilitated the Climate Jam of this major climate research conference hosted by the Tyndall Centre at the UEA. The Jam invited 400 scientists and Norwich citizens to relax, chat and take part in creative activities that showcased local theatre companies, performers, musicians and artists.

I gave a keynote talk at the Group for Education in Museums conference, with the theme “Sustaining Our Practice, Sustaining Our World.” I also ran a workshop there about the Generic Environmental Outcomes I’ve been developing with my company, Flow Associates. The GEOs are modelled on the Generic Learning Outcomes used in museum & heritage learning for 20 years. “This is a hugely valuable tool. Definitely needed. Helps focus on environmental issues and outcomes.”

I also went to Liverpool for the Bodies of Water symposium curated by UP Projects (with Justine Boussard). I co-led a workshop around actions towards a regenerative culture based on the three values of Culture Declares Emergency: Truth, Care and Change.

More locally, I’m involved in a few initiatives:

I’ll contribute to the Music & Climate event at the Wild Paths Festival, alongside Music Declares Emergency and others.

I’m doing a How It All Connects workshop for the Reimagine Norwich Festival for People & Planet.

And finally, a couple of pieces of writing to share:

I wrote ‘Do You See Red at Eco Protests?’ about the Greenpeace & Anish Kapoor art protest ‘Butchered’, for the Eastern Daily Press. (“Wow this may be the hardest-hitting article in the press I have seen for a long time. If only our politicians would heed this.” Suzanne Wise)

And, this piece about Class and Colour: public engagement for systemic change, which shares some of my Earth Talk tools for conversation.

So, please do sign up for the mailing list, and connect with me in the way that best suits you.
